Studies suggest that substance – which includes drug and alcohol costs the U.S. an estimated $276 billion per year, with most of the cost coming for lost work productivity and health care expense.
Drug and alcohol testing aim to filter out drug and alcohol users and deter the use these substances in your environment. Drug and alcohol testing programs have been shown to improve morale and productivity; reduce absenteeism, accidents, downtime, turnover and theft.
In many cases employers can save money by offering a drug testing program. Employers who operate a drug free program, as certified by the state’s labor department, can qualify for discounts on their worker’s compensation insurance. In Arkansas the workers compensation program may qualify for a 5% discount on premiums provided the regulations outline in Rule 36 of Act 1552 of 1999 has been met. The full regulation can be found at the Arkansas Workers Compensation website.
Improve morale and productivity
It’s a fact!
Employers who participate in a successful drug-free workplace programs report a decrease in absenteeism, downtime, turnover and theft. A drug free workplace also increases the productivity and the morale of the employees who make your business a success.
No one wants to believe that a friend or family member has a substance abuse problem. Only about 23% of our nation’s drug abusers are sitting around in abandoned buildings and back alleys. The rest of the nation’s drug abusers are employed! It is imperative that employers ensure the safety of all of their employees, your employees and their families depend on it.
With the new concern of legalized marijuana, employees are becoming more concerned about their safety in the work place. And when an employer does not have a drug free workplace policy; employees become fearful of their safety in the workplace. This can cause a decrease in morale; with many employees wondering why their employer is not looking out for their best interest and safety.
On Demand Testing Solutions has placed a large emphasis on providing a safe and drug free work place in the communities we serve. We have provided thousands of drug tests locally and are able to coordinate drug testing nationally through our partnerships with large vendors and labs. Every business is obligated to their employees to offer them a drug testing program, to ensure their safety.
We offer the following testing for the workforce:
Pre-Employment Drug testing – By testing the prospective employee before you hire, reduces the risk of hiring a substance abuser. Pre-employment drug testing may discourage current users from seeking employment in workplaces that require them to test before offering them a job.
Random Testing – Random tests act as a deterrent to substance abuse. An effective random drug testing protocol means the employee has no way of knowing when the testing will be conducted or if they will be selected in the random pool of donors.
Reasonable Suspicion – Employers are able to test their employees if they have reason to believe the employee is under the influence of a substance while on the clock. Employers rely on evidence of erratic behavior, physical symptoms, arrests or convictions of a drug related nature.
Post Accident – Employers are able to test after any type of accident or incident while on company time. Employees who have been hurt on the job are asked to test immediately after an incident. Even if the accident does not appear to be related to substance abuse, this test may be necessary for legal or insurance purposes.
